Adobe is expanding the use of artificial intelligence within its widely-used Acrobat PDF software, adding features that automatically generate presentations and podcasts from existing documents. The updates, rolling out now to Acrobat, Acrobat Studio, and Express users, reflect a broader industry trend of integrating AI to streamline content creation and enhance productivity. Building on previously added generative AI capabilities – including summarizing functions – these new tools aim to simplify the repurposing of existing content for diverse media [[1]]. The company reports these new features are currently available in English and will expand to additional languages later this quarter.

Adobe has expanded the capabilities of its Acrobat ecosystem – including Acrobat, Acrobat Studio, and Express – with a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features. The updates introduce the ability to generate presentations and podcasts directly from document files, signaling a growing trend of AI-driven content creation tools.

The new features build upon Acrobat Studio, which launched in Spain in November after its initial unveiling in August. That release already incorporated generative AI functionalities, including ‘PDF Spaces,’ a tool capable of summarizing up to 100 documents at once.

Now, with the ‘Generate Presentations’ feature in Acrobat, users can leverage AI to analyze and condense the content of documents – such as reports, product sheets, or webpages – into presentation-ready formats. Users simply upload their files to ‘PDF Spaces’ and instruct the AI assistant to create slides highlighting key takeaways.

The system allows for customization of presentation design, length, and tone. Once generated, a fully editable draft is produced, eliminating the need for manual slide creation. This streamlines the process of transforming lengthy documents into concise, visually engaging presentations.

For podcast enthusiasts, Adobe is also introducing a ‘Generate Podcast’ function. Similar to the presentation feature, users upload a document to ‘PDF Spaces’ and request the AI assistant to convert it into an audio format.

According to Adobe’s Vice President of Marketing, Michi Alexander, the podcast feature was developed in response to a shift in user behavior. “Users are turning to audio formats to better understand content,” Alexander explained to AI Economy. The functionality draws inspiration from Google’s NotebookLM, which already offers PDF-to-podcast conversion with dual narration.

Beyond content creation, Acrobat’s AI chat functionality provides a more efficient way to perform common PDF tasks. The AI assistant can now assist users with deleting pages, editing text, adding comments and images, and incorporating electronic signatures.

Adobe’s continued expansion of AI-powered tools follows a recent announcement of AI-based features for Premiere, its video editing application. The company’s ongoing investment in artificial intelligence underscores its commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology across its creative software suite.
