Pilar Zafrilla, vice-dean of the Pharmacy Degree at UCAM University, emphasized that the forum serves as a key space for scientific update to support the evolution of community pharmacy.

This comes as UCAM responds to growing demand for pharmaceutical services by promoting continuous education initiatives.

During the event, experts highlighted the pharmacist’s role in healthcare, stressing that pharmacies function as health centers where professionals must ensure treatment effectiveness through rigorous practice.

Jesús Gómez, president of the Spanish Society of Community Pharmacists and Nutritionists, stated that pharmacists must act with rigor to guarantee treatment effectiveness.

Begoña Cerdá, professor and secretary of UCAM’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, presented recent advances in treating small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), noting that improved understanding of SIBO causes enables more effective and personalized patient treatments.

The gathering focused on how community pharmacists can enhance patient quality of life through interventions in nutrition, dietetics, and evidence-based pharmaceutical care.

Attendees explored the importance of ongoing training in pharmaceutical care, dietetics, and nutritional guidelines as essential tools for future pharmacy professionals.

The event was organized by UCAM through its Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Community Pharmacists and Nutritionists and the Iberoamerican Community Pharmacy Scientific Professional Society.

María Dolores García, president of UCAM, inaugurated the session alongside Pilar Zafrilla and Jesús Gómez.
