AIDES Launches Free Anonymous STI Partner Notification Tool

The French nonprofit AIDES has launched a recent free and anonymous tool to help people inform their sexual partners if they’ve been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

The service, available at Préviensmoi.fr, allows users to send a discreet notification to recent partners without revealing their identity. The platform is designed to support early testing and treatment, which can help reduce the spread of infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV.

According to AIDES, the tool was developed in response to persistent challenges in partner notification, a critical but often difficult step in STI prevention. Many people avoid informing partners due to stigma, fear of confrontation, or lack of knowledge about how to do so safely.

The website guides users through a simple process: after entering basic information about their diagnosis and the timeframe of potential exposure, they can choose how to notify partners — via email or SMS — using pre-written, medically accurate messages. All communications are encrypted and do not store personal data.

Public health experts emphasize that timely partner notification is essential for breaking chains of transmission. When individuals are informed promptly, they are more likely to seek testing and treatment, reducing the risk of complications and further spread.

AIDES states that the service is available to anyone in France, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or HIV status. The organization says it plans to monitor usage and feedback to assess the tool’s impact on public health outcomes.

By removing barriers to communication, Préviensmoi.fr aims to strengthen community-based prevention efforts and support broader goals of STI control and sexual health equity.
