As *La Granja VIP* enters its eighth week, the competition for power – and immunity – on the rural reality show continues to intensify. Following a closely contested public vote and a challenge involving the farm’s animals, Alberto del Río has been named “El Capataz,” granting him control over the week’s tasks and a reprieve from potential elimination. The role, second in authority only to the farm manager, comes with notable responsibilities and benefits as contestants navigate both agricultural duties and complex social dynamics [[1]].
Alberto del Río has secured his spot for another week on La Granja VIP, winning the role of “El Capataz” – essentially the farm foreman – and gaining immunity from nomination. The reality competition show, popular in Latin America, tests contestants’ ability to manage farm life and navigate interpersonal dynamics.
Alberto del Río is El Capataz in Week 8 of La Granja VIP
After nearly 24 hours of public voting, Kim Shantal and Alberto del Río faced off in a challenge to determine who would take on the coveted role. Fabiola Campomanes, La Bea, and Sergio Mayer Mori were also eligible contenders. However, Alfredo Adame, César Doroteo (the previous Capataz), and Eleazar Gómez, who are already designated as “peones” (farmhands), were ineligible for the position, according to reports.
The competition came down to a giant lottery-style game, with spaces representing characters and objects from the show, including the cow “Jacinta” and the pig “Bacon.” Kim Shantal was just one space away from completing her board when Alberto del Río was crowned the winner.
Becoming El Capataz grants significant authority, second only to Tío Pepe, El Mayoral (the farm manager). Responsibilities include assigning tasks such as animal care, tending to the vegetable garden, and maintaining common areas. The Capataz also receives a weekly evaluation that determines the farm’s budget for the following week.
In addition to immunity from nomination, the individual in the role of El Capataz enjoys luxurious accommodations with a guest, including exclusive snacks, a large bed, and a bathtub.
