Central Government Approves All India Institute of Ayurveda in Telangana
The Central government is set to approve the establishment of an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Telangana, mirroring the structure of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay announced today.
Addressing concerns about perceived neglect of Ayurveda institutes in southern states, Sanjay stated that claims of the Centre backing down from its commitment are “unfounded.” He emphasized the government’s equal treatment of all states, saying, “The Modi govt treats all states equally. Creating confusion with false propaganda and reports harms the state.” This new institute aims to boost traditional medicine practices and research within the region.
Sanjay revealed he had written to Union AYUSH Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav regarding delays in a response concerning a modern AYUSH integrated hospital in Karimnagar, and also addressed a letter to Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha. He dismissed reports of the Centre’s withdrawal as deliberate attempts to damage its reputation. For more information on the AYUSH system of medicine, visit the Ministry of AYUSH website.
The development comes as India sees growing interest in alternative and traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda. Officials indicated that further details regarding the institute’s location and operational timeline will be announced soon, and the government is committed to collaborating with the state on all aspects of the project. Sanjay affirmed that the Centre is fully cooperating with Telangana on this initiative and will continue to work towards its successful implementation.
