Social media quickly lit up reacting to Davis’ struggles. Underdog NBA noted Davis’ scoreless first half, tweeting, “Anthony Davis’ first half vs. Thunder: 0 PTS 4 REB 2 AST 0 BLK 0 STL 0-4 FG 0-2 FT 14 MIN.”

Rob Perez added, “Half of OKC’s main guys are in street clothes tonight and they still held Anthony Davis scoreless in the first half.”

Davis, in his first full season with the Mavericks, entered the game averaging 20.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, while shooting 52.0% from the field and 35.0% from three-point range.

Despite being down by 30 points in the fourth quarter, Davis re-entered the game, according to Grant Afseth, with the Mavericks facing a quick turnaround against the Houston Rockets.

Davis was originally selected first overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Kentucky Wildcats. He spent seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won an NBA Championship in 2020 alongside LeBron James.
