Latvia’s televised music competition, “Pārdziedi mani!” (Sing Me Over!), continued to build momentum this week wiht a hip-hop focused episode on December 8th. While Emilija initially secured the top spot in viewer votes with a performance of Fiņķis’ “Raķešu zinātni,” it was Antra Stafecka who ultimately claimed the weekly lead through a combined score from both the audience and a panel of music experts. The show’s format, which incorporates both viewer participation and professional critique, is proving popular with Latvian audiences ahead of the live finale scheduled for January 17th.
Antra Stafecka took the top spot on Latvia’s “Pārdziedi mani!” (Sing Me Over!) after a hip-hop themed episode on December 8th, though Emilija initially won over viewers with her performance. The show, which features established musicians covering both Latvian and international hip-hop classics, is quickly becoming a local television favorite.
Emilija captivated the audience with her rendition of Fiņķis’ “Raķešu zinātni” (Rocket Science), securing first place in the viewer vote. Stafecka landed in second place with viewers, but ultimately claimed the lead for the week thanks to a 15-point boost from the expert panel, performing Kris Kross’ hit “Jump.”
Ralfs Eilands earned third place with the audience for his take on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” while Rolands če followed closely behind in fourth with an Anša song, “Sports.”
Artūrs Uškāns (“Stampā grīdu”), Jānis Apeinis, Alise Haijima (“Super Bass”), and Raimonda Vazdika (“Plus mīnus”) rounded out the performances. The expert panel – comprised of Marija Naumova, Andris Freidenfelds (Fredis), and this week’s guest judge, hip-hop artist Fiņķis – placed Stafecka, Eilands, and če in the top three, with Emilija securing sixth place.
Combining viewer votes and expert scores, Antra Stafecka emerges as the overall leader this week.
Emilija came in second, followed by Ralfs Eilands in third. Rolands če, Artūrs Uškāns, Alise Haijima, Raimonda Vazdika, and Jānis Apeinis completed the rankings.
The show’s unique scoring system awards points based on placement each week, but notably, no contestant is eliminated. This allows viewers to enjoy all performances throughout the competition, culminating in a live finale on January 17th, where the season’s winner will be crowned.
