Apple brings Tap to Pay on iPhone to Malaysia Apple announced today that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Malaysia, enabling merchants to accept contactless payments using only their iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app — no additional hardware required. The feature works with iPhone 11 or later running the latest iOS version. At checkout, merchants prompt customers to hold their contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet near the iPhone. Payments are securely completed using NFC technology. Apple emphasized that all transactions are encrypted and that the company does not collect information about what is purchased or who made the purchase. Starting today, ADAPTIS, Fiuu, HitPay, Stripe, and Zoho are the first payment platforms in Malaysia to integrate Tap to Pay on iPhone into their iOS apps. The capability will be available to businesses across retail, food and beverage, beauty, and professional services. Tap to Pay on iPhone will also be coming soon for checkout at Apple The Exchange TRX. Supported contactless debit and credit cards include American Express, JCB, Mastercard, MyDebit, UnionPay, and Visa. Apple first launched Tap to Pay on iPhone in the United States in February 2022 and has since expanded the feature to more than 50 countries and regions worldwide.
