Fans of Ubisoft’s critically acclaimed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag may soon see the pirate adventure reimagined for modern consoles. Reports indicate the French publisher is preparing a full remake of the 2013 title, potentially addressing long-held fan requests for expanded content and improved gameplay. Leaked details suggest a focus on immersive experiences, including the removal of Animus sequences and the implementation of advanced weather systems borrowed from the recently released *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*.
Ubisoft is reportedly preparing to unveil and release a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, promising significant improvements over the original title.
Rumors of a Black Flag remake have circulated for months within the gaming industry. According to Tom Henderson, the project is already well underway, with Ubisoft targeting an early 2026 release. Now, more specific leaks are emerging that suggest a return for Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure in a substantially enhanced form.
The latest information surfaced following Ubisoft’s official announcement of an “unannounced title” planned for its current fiscal year. This announcement fueled speculation that the title in question is indeed the Black Flag remake. Reports indicate that developers intend to remove the contemporary segments featuring the Animus and eliminate loading screens to create a more seamless and immersive gameplay experience. The remake is also expected to include content that was cut from the original release, a move likely to appeal to fans seeking a more comprehensive edition of the game.
Perhaps even more intriguing, French creator j0nathan claims the remake could leverage weather effects from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This would translate to significantly advanced lighting, fog, rain, and sea storm systems. If the weather in Black Flag IV Remake functions similarly to Shadows, players could experience a new level of immersion during naval combat and exploration of the Caribbean. This demonstrates the potential for modern game engines to dramatically enhance established franchises.
The user interface and world map are also slated for revisions. According to the leak, the menu system is undergoing a complete overhaul, and the world map will be more detailed and enriched with new activities. Importantly, the map’s size will remain consistent with the original game, but Ubisoft aims to increase the “density” of attractions, aligning with earlier rumors of new side quests.
