Aurora Humanitarian Initiative to Host Milestone Event on Ellis Island

The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative will host a significant gathering on Ellis Island in New York City on November 6, 2025, to recognize individuals dedicated to saving lives through humanitarian work.

Founded in 2015 as an expression of gratitude to those who aided Armenian Genocide survivors, the Aurora Initiative has since provided support to over 3.54 million people across 63 countries through 516 humanitarian projects focused on critical needs like emergency relief, medical assistance, and education. This year’s event aims to bring together philanthropists, grassroots humanitarians, and influential leaders to celebrate courage and the impact of philanthropic efforts.

The event will be co-chaired by Noubar Afeyan, Dr. Eric Esrailian, Alice Greenwald, and Dame Louise Richardson. Ellis Island, a historic landmark symbolizing opportunity and welcome, serves as a powerful backdrop for recognizing those who extend similar compassion globally; you can find more information about the island’s history on the National Park Service website. The initiative’s work is particularly crucial as global crises continue to displace populations and create urgent humanitarian needs, according to the United Nations.

Organizers stated the event will honor extraordinary individuals who put their lives at risk to help others. Further details regarding honorees and event programming will be released in the coming weeks.
