Avatar: The Seed Bearer held its world premiere in Hollywood, and early impressions are in!

“James Cameron continues to play with the philosophy of each element, after discussing creating roots, changing terrain, and having the resilience of water, now he speaks about the beauty and destruction of fire, which the more it’s stoked, the faster it spreads.”

The film arrives in theaters on December 19, 2025.

Everything You Need to Know About Avatar: The Seed Bearer

The primary new tribe audiences will encounter in Avatar: The Seed Bearer is the Ash People, described as a volcanic and aggressive group, a stark contrast to the peaceful Metkayina clan of the seas featured in Avatar: The Way of Water. Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charles Chaplin and known for her role in Game of Thrones, will portray Varang, the leader of the Ash People.

Avatar: The Seed Bearer will also feature a change in narration, shifting away from Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully to focus on Lo’ak, played by Britain Dalton. This installment marks the third of five planned Avatar films.

Avatar: The Seed Bearer premieres on December 19, 2025. A four-year gap will precede the release of Avatar 4, slated for December 21, 2029. The final film in the saga, Avatar 5, is currently scheduled for a December 19, 2031, launch.

If these dates hold, the final Avatar film will arrive 22 years after the original’s 2009 debut, marking a significant commitment to the world of Pandora.

Prior to this upcoming release, Avatar: The Way of Water resumed the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoë Saldaña) on the planet Pandora. Years after the events of the first film, the couple had built a family and found themselves defending their home against a renewed human invasion.
