Baltimore Region to Experience Cooler Temperatures, Frost Advisories in Effect

The Baltimore metropolitan area will see cooler-than-normal temperatures today, peaking in the mid-60s, with frost advisories issued for several surrounding counties.

High temperatures are expected to range from 61 to 64 degrees across the Baltimore metro area, accompanied by north to northwest winds of 15 to 16 mph. Areas on the Eastern Shore may experience temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below their typical levels for this time of year. This cooling trend comes as many prepare for outdoor fall activities, potentially impacting weekend plans.

Overnight lows are forecast to drop into the 40s, and potentially the 30s in some locations, prompting frost advisories for Frederick, Carroll, Allegheny, and Washington counties, effective from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday. A freeze warning is also in effect for Garrett County during the same timeframe. Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants and take precautions against icy conditions. You can find more information about preparing for frost and freezes from the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

While the weekend is expected to be dry, with temperatures reaching the upper 60s on Saturday and 75 on Sunday, a storm system is approaching and may bring showers late Sunday evening into early Monday. The National Weather Service provides detailed forecasts and alerts for the region; you can find their information here. Officials will continue to monitor the system’s progress and provide updates as needed.
