Search efforts continue in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia, following a devastating landslide that struck earlier this month, claiming at least 74 lives as of Sunday, February 1, 2026. The disaster, impacting the villages of Kampung Pasir Kuning, Pasir Kuda, and Kampung Babakan, prompted a large-scale response with teams still searching for six missing individuals. Authorities are working to identify the recovered remains and provide support to affected families as the full scope of the tragedy becomes clear.

Search teams in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia, have recovered the bodies of 74 victims following a landslide that struck Kampung Pasir Kuning, Pasir Kuda, and Kampung Babakan in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District. The ongoing search for six remaining individuals continues as of Sunday, February 1, 2026.

The landslide, which occurred earlier this month, has prompted a large-scale rescue operation. Ade Dian, head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office, stated that four more bodies were discovered on the ninth day of the search.

“As of the ninth day of the search, we have evacuated 74 body bags,” Ade Dian said, according to reports from detikJabar. “Today, the team found 4 body pack.”

Initial reports indicated that approximately 80 people were buried in the landslide. Currently, search teams are still looking for six more victims.

“Therefore, there are still 6 body pack remaining to be found. We hope the remaining victims can be located soon,” Ade Dian added.

All recovered remains are being transferred to the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the West Java Police for identification before being released to families.

“As of February 1 at 4:00 PM local time, 57 victims have been identified based on data from the DVI post. The remaining bodies are still undergoing the identification process,” Ade Dian stated.
