Reports of multiple fighter jets flying over Belgium prompted concern among residents Monday afternoon. Here’s what we know.

Residents of Liedekerke expressed worry Monday after observing several fighter jets flying overhead. “Several fighter planes are flying over Liedekerke today. We are concerned. There is no information online,” Alexia of Liedekerke wrote, referencing ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Similar reports came from Tertre, where a resident named Aurore reported, “Four fighter planes just flew over the Tertre industrial zone, and a federal police helicopter is circling the area. We are wondering what is happening.”

Another individual contacted news outlets to report multiple flights over Ninove. “Several flights over Ninove by fighter planes – should we be worried? It’s a bit early for the July 21st training exercises, and given the current context, it’s still a little unsettling,” said Natacha of Ninove.

Defense officials have reassured the public, stating the observed flights were part of routine training exercises.
