Residents of Bella Vista II in Barquisimeto are demanding urgent rehabilitation of their local Barrio Adentro health module, which has been non-operational for approximately one year due to critical infrastructure failures.

The community, located on Río Turbio Street between avenues 46 and 47, reports that the primary care center suffers from rainwater leaks, damaged flooring, and a deteriorated entrance door, preventing regular medical services. Yolanda Sánchez, a member of the local Communal Council, spoke on behalf of neighbors, urging Mayor Yanys Agüero to approve final funding for completion of the main structure.

“We ask the mayor to please approve the last resource needed to finish the main part. With the rain, water is getting inside. We find still touch-ups needed inside and outside, plus the rehabilitation of the door and the entrance floor,” Sánchez said.

The disruption disproportionately affects vulnerable populations, including elderly residents and children with disabilities who rely on consistent medical attention for their well-being. Sánchez emphasized that the community depends entirely on this public health system for daily care.

In addition to structural repairs, residents are requesting general painting of the facility and the provision of medical supplies and equipment, similar to support provided to other Barrio Adentro modules in the Iribarren municipality.

The prolonged closure highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining accessible healthcare in underserved areas, where even basic infrastructure deficiencies can disrupt essential services for those most in require.
