Thiruvananthapuram – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set its sights on hosting the 2036 Olympic Games in Thiruvananthapuram, India. The ambitious proposal was unveiled as part of the party’s election manifesto for the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The BJP intends to lobby the central government to make Thiruvananthapuram a potential venue for the games.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar officially released the manifesto, which also includes a pledge to publish a comprehensive development plan for the city within 45 days of taking office. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to personally present the plan. The party also promises to release a progress report on implemented projects annually, and to establish family health centers in every ward. The manifesto further states the goal of transforming Thiruvananthapuram into one of the top three cities in India by 2030.

Chandrasekhar stated that if the BJP gains power in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, it will establish a development-focused administration. He also highlighted plans to develop the Vizhinjam port as a major gateway port, and to position Thiruvananthapuram as a hub of opportunity.
