Traunreut. The Traunreut City Library is set to launch a major upgrade to its digital lending platform on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, introducing Onleihe 3 as a replacement for the previous system.
The new platform, described by library director Sabrina Liebau as a user-friendly and low-barrier service, aims to significantly improve the borrowing experience for digital media. Users can expect enhanced functionality and a more intuitive interface designed to craft accessing eBooks, audiobooks, and other digital resources easier and more convenient.
With the rollout of Onleihe 3, the existing platform will be fully decommissioned. The upgrade reflects broader efforts among public libraries to modernize digital access in line with evolving technical and security standards.
While most current devices—including e-readers, smartphones, tablets, and PCs—are expected to remain compatible, some users may need to update their hardware to meet the new system’s requirements, as noted by other libraries implementing similar upgrades.
The transition underscores the ongoing innovation in public library services, where digital transformation continues to expand access to knowledge and culture through secure, accessible technology.
