The new watches offer a familiar digital experience with updated aesthetics, catering to a growing consumer base drawn to affordable, classic designs. Availability is currently limited to the United Kingdom and Japan, with wider distribution anticipated, according to the manufacturer.

Casio has expanded its popular Vintage line with the release of two new digital watches: the A158WEA-2 and the A158WEA-7. The new models, building on the legacy of the A158 series which debuted in 1989, follow the recent launch of A158-WEM watches featuring upgraded metal straps.

Both the A158WEA-2 and A158WEA-7 feature a silver-colored resin case paired with a matching stainless steel bracelet and adjustable clasp. The A158WEA-2 distinguishes itself with a blue bezel surrounding the standard display (light background, dark numerals), while the A158WEA-7 sports a silver-colored bezel around the same display. Each watch measures 36.8 x 33.2 x 8.5 mm (~1.45 x 1.31 x 0.33 inches) and weighs 45 g (~1.59 oz).

The Casio A158 is a classic digital timepiece offering both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats. Its fully automatic calendar adjusts for leap years (setting February to 28 days), and displays both the date and day of the week. A green LED backlight illuminates the display for low-light visibility. Functionality includes a 1/100th-second stopwatch, a daily alarm, and hourly time signals. The watches are also water-resistant for everyday use and are expected to operate for approximately seven years on a single CR2016 battery.

In the United Kingdom, the Casio Vintage A158WEA-2 and A158WEA-7 will retail for £34.90. Interested customers can sign up to receive an email notification when the watches become available via a button on the product page. The watches have already launched in Japan, where they are currently available for pre-order. The company’s international website https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/casio/product.A158WEA-2/ indicates a potential for wider distribution in the future.

Casio’s continued popularity with its retro-styled watches demonstrates a growing consumer interest in blending classic design with reliable digital technology. The A158 series, in particular, has become a sought-after item for its affordability and iconic aesthetic, appealing to a broad range of watch enthusiasts.
