A stunning glass igloo has appeared in the central square of Tromsø, Norway, offering a unique and cozy venue for upcoming performances.
The installation is part of the Northern Lights Festival, which kicks off Thursday and will feature a series of concerts held inside the unusual space. The festival is quickly becoming known for its innovative and immersive concert experiences.
“I promise a good atmosphere with artists, reindeer skins, and cocoa,” festival director Sergej Schroeter told Nordlys last week.
The igloo will host performances by Runa Bergsmo, Frøken Frikadello, and the Mammelukk band, among others. Local Tromsø musician Knut Erik Sundquist will also take the stage with Nils Anders Mortensen, performing reworked traditional Northern Norwegian folk tunes. Their set will blend classic pieces with techno elements.
Sami artist Manne is scheduled to perform two concerts within the igloo’s transparent dome. Additionally, the Midnight Concerts featuring Harald Bakkeby Moe will also be held at the venue.
All concerts are free to the public.
