Lugo Faces Uphill Battle Against Dominant Tenerife

The CD Lugo head into a challenging Saturday matchup against league leaders CD Tenerife, acknowledging the significant task ahead. Tenerife’s impressive form has set them apart in the Primera RFEF Grupo I and Lugo manager Yago Iglesias admits the difference in quality is apparent. “It seems like they play in another league,” Iglesias stated, recognizing Tenerife’s dominance in both results and overall performance.

Despite the daunting challenge, Iglesias is confident his team is improving. Lugo has overcome a difficult start to the season and currently occupies a playoff position. “We’ve had a tough start, but I think we’ve found the key now and the team is competing better and better,” he explained. The team is currently on an upward trajectory, building momentum as the season progresses.

Álvaro Cervera, the Tenerife manager, also acknowledged Lugo’s recent form, describing them as “one of the teams most in form” ahead of the contest, according to Diario AS.

Iglesias praised Tenerife’s solidity and competitiveness, noting their ability to consistently perform well in matches. “When you analyze them, you see a very competitive, very compact team that always shows up in games and is complex,” he said. However, he also emphasized that “anyone can beat anyone” in the league, maintaining a belief in his team’s ability to compete.

Lugo will be without Diego Caballo and Pastrana for the match, while Antonio Perera is a doubt and Yago Rodríguez’s fitness is being monitored, as reported by La Voz de Galicia.

The match at Heliodoro Rodríguez López is set for Saturday, with Lugo aiming to secure three points against the league’s frontrunners. The team is focused on continuing their positive momentum and proving they can compete with the best in the division.
