China Urges Permanent Middle East Ceasefire and Immediate Reopening of Strait of Hormuz
Beijing is calling for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. In a diplomatic push for regional stability, China has demanded a “complete and durable” cessation of hostilities.

Central to Beijing’s position is the restoration of maritime security. Chinese officials have urged for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible,” highlighting the urgency of restoring traffic through one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
The strategic importance of the waterway has also emerged in discussions between global leaders. Donald Trump stated that Xi Jinping offered his assistance specifically to help facilitate the reopening of the strait.
The push to reopen the Strait of Hormuz underscores the potential for widespread global economic disruption, as any prolonged closure of the waterway threatens international trade and energy supplies. This diplomatic intervention reflects Beijing’s efforts to position itself as a key mediator in the region’s security architecture.
