China’s Logistics Sector Shows Robust Growth in 2025
China’s logistics industry experienced significant expansion in 2025, with the total social logistics tonnage exceeding 368 trillion yuan, according to data released on February 10, 2026. This represents a 5.1% increase compared to the previous year, signaling continued strength in the nation’s supply chains and overall economic activity.
The figures, released by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, indicate a steady expansion of logistics demand, ongoing structural optimization, and improved efficiency within the sector. The growth underscores the critical role logistics plays in supporting China’s vast manufacturing base and domestic consumption.
Total logistics costs across the country reached 19.5 trillion yuan in 2025, with the ratio of total logistics costs to GDP falling to a record low of 13.9%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from 2024. This reduction in costs is attributed to policy initiatives focused on structural adjustments and reforms, as well as increased integration and cost-sharing between logistics providers and various industries.
The total revenue of China’s logistics sector reached 14.3 trillion yuan in 2025, marking a 4.1% year-on-year increase. This growth reflects the continuous upgrading and iteration of China’s logistics systems. The sustained growth in revenue and efficiency gains suggest a maturing and increasingly competitive logistics landscape.
These developments demonstrate a commitment to lowering overall logistics costs and enhancing the sector’s contribution to the national economy. The positive trends are expected to continue as China further develops its infrastructure and streamlines its logistics processes.
