Brazilian Senate President Davi Alcolumbre is at the center of a developing story concerning access to the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, according to messages obtained by UOL. The messages suggest Alcolumbre received shipments of the medication-prior to its official approval in Brazil-through arrangements coordinated by Roberto Augusto Leme da Silva, also known as Beto Louco, who is currently a fugitive wanted on fraud and money laundering charges. This report highlights increasing scrutiny regarding the procurement of prescription drugs outside of regulated channels and potential connections to organized crime.
Brazilian Senate President Davi Alcolumbre received shipments of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro through an arrangement organized by Roberto Augusto Leme da Silva, also known as Beto Louco, according to messages obtained by UOL. The case underscores growing scrutiny of access to prescription medications outside of authorized channels.
The messages detail how Beto Louco coordinated with a private driver in Brasília to deliver the medication to Alcolumbre. Beto Louco is currently a fugitive and under investigation by Brazilian Federal Police for alleged fraud involving fuel and money laundering. The investigation also explores potential links between gas stations and the Primeiro Comando do PCC, a major Brazilian criminal organization.
The conversations took place in August 2024, before Mounjaro was approved for weight loss by Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) in June 2025. At the time, obtaining the drug required access to the black market or connections to individuals who frequently traveled abroad. Monthly treatment costs were approximately $15,000.
On August 5, Alcolumbre attended a luncheon hosted by Antonio Rueda, president of the União Brasil party, in Brasília. During the event, Alcolumbre reportedly mentioned difficulties in acquiring Mounjaro. Beto Louco then stated he had a contact, a woman named Franciele, who regularly traveled to Dubai and could potentially source the medication.

On August 6, Beto Louco contacted the driver to arrange pickup of the medication arriving on a commercial flight. The driver, familiar with Alcolumbre, asked if the delivery was “for Davi.” He later confirmed the delivery was complete.
At 10:41 PM, the driver sent an audio message to Beto Louco from Janduí Nunes Bezerra Filho, then Alcolumbre’s driver and now a parliamentary advisor. Janduí confirmed the delivery and stated that Alcolumbre had been informed. Janduí has held paid positions within Alcolumbre’s office since 2015.
Janduí confirmed the authenticity of the audio and said he remembers the delivery, adding that he also knew the driver employed by Beto Louco. The identity of the driver involved in the collection and distribution has not been released at his request.
