David Gilmour Rules Out Any Future Reunions with Roger Waters

Guitarist David Gilmour has definitively stated there is no possibility of a future reunion with former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters, ending speculation about a potential reconciliation.

In a recent interview, Gilmour responded to a question about the conditions under which he might share a stage with Waters, stating simply, “Nothing. There is no possible way that I would do that.” The pair’s decades-long feud intensified after Waters left the band in 1985, and has continued through recent years, marked by public disagreements and accusations. The split has long fascinated fans of the iconic progressive rock band, and their music continues to influence artists today.

Gilmour previously criticized Waters, alleging he “supported genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin.” His wife, lyricist Polly Samson, further fueled the conflict in 2023, accusing Waters of being “antisemitic to his rotten core,” a claim Waters vehemently refuted, stating he was “aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments” and refuted them entirely. Samson explained her public statement was intended to clarify her and her husband’s views, noting discomfort with being associated with Waters’s controversial positions. The announcement comes after Pink Floyd sold their music rights, including name and likeness, to Sony Music for over half a billion dollars in 2024. Gilmour indicated the sale was motivated by a desire to avoid ongoing disputes and decision-making related to managing the band’s legacy, stating it was about “getting out of the mud bath that it has been for quite a while.” The sale represents one of the largest music deals in history, signaling a shift in how artists manage their intellectual property. Gilmour and Waters have not commented on whether the sale will impact their individual artistic endeavors, but have made it clear that a collaborative performance is not on the horizon.
