Dayanara Torres has firmly denied allegations made by former beauty pageant contestant Sophinel Báez, regarding the 2015 Miss República Dominicana competition. Báez claimed in an interview that Torres served as a judge and told her she should have won the crown.
“I have never been a judge for Miss República Dominicana,” Torres stated exclusively to People en Español. “I have had the honor of participating as a judge in the international Miss Universe competition on three occasions, but I have not held that role in the local Dominican Republic competition. It’s a misunderstanding, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify it.”

In the same interview, Báez suggested she was the rightful winner of the pageant, alleging that current Univision host El gordo y la flaca, Clarissa Molina, won the crown after allegedly accepting an inappropriate proposal from a businessman and meeting with him privately. “[They met in a room and] no one else was called,” Báez claimed. “What exactly happened, I couldn’t tell you.”

Molina responded to the accusations, and People en Español obtained a statement from the Dominican presenter.
“Actress and communicator Clarissa Molina categorically denied the statements made about her by Ms. Sophinel Báez during an interview with journalist Juan Carlos Albelo in a digital media outlet in the country.”
“Clarissa Molina also informed that she has retained a law firm in Santo Domingo to immediately initiate the appropriate legal actions. She also warned that these legal measures will extend to those media outlets and digital platforms that echo this false information. Molina clarified that she will not develop additional statements and that this statement constitutes her sole official position on the matter.”
The controversy highlights the ongoing scrutiny and debate surrounding beauty pageants and the allegations of impropriety that sometimes surface within the industry. Molina has initiated legal action against Báez, signaling a serious response to the claims, and warning media outlets against repeating what she deems false information. The case is developing as Molina’s legal team prepares to pursue action in Santo Domingo.
