Blizzard Entertainment has announced the release date for the second expansion pack to Diablo IV, titled “Lord of Hatred,” set to launch on April 28, 2026. The expansion will introduce new story content, two playable character classes, and updated gameplay systems for players to explore.
The narrative continues following the events of the base game, with the lingering influence of Lilith still present in Sanctuary. Players will confront the resurgent power of Mephisto, one of the Prime Evils, whose return threatens to spread corruption across the sacred isles of Scosglen, and beyond.
Among the key additions are two new character classes: the Paladin and a second unnamed class detailed in promotional materials. The Paladin class offers multiple playstyles, including the Vindicator, who wields holy judgment in combat; the Zealot, who channels fervent conviction into offense and defense; the Condemnor, who calls down celestial punishment from above; and the Sentinel, focused on divine survivability and protection.
Players who pre-purchase the expansion will gain immediate access to the Paladin class and the ability to experience the “Vessel of Hatred” feature ahead of the full launch. The expansion also promises new dungeons, endgame activities, and refined character progression systems.
Alongside the expansion, Blizzard confirmed the ongoing “Season of the Reckoning,” which coincides with Mephisto’s growing influence across Sanctuary. This season introduces increased rank challenges, system updates, new Strongbox rewards, and beta adjustments to Towers and leaderboards.
The “Lord of Hatred” expansion marks a significant milestone in Diablo IV’s post-launch content roadmap, continuing Blizzard’s commitment to expanding the game’s narrative depth and player customization options through seasonal updates and major expansions.
