Novak Djokovic Confirmed to Compete at ATP Finals in Turin

Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic will participate in next week’s ATP Finals in Turin, ending speculation about his potential withdrawal from the prestigious year-end tournament.

The confirmation comes after a three-week absence from competition following his semi-final defeat to Valentin Vacherot at the Shanghai Masters 1000 on October 11. Djokovic opted to skip the Paris Masters, which concluded yesterday, but is scheduled to return to action this week in Athens against Alejandro Tabilo before heading to Italy. His participation is crucial as he aims to solidify his position among the top players and contend for another title.

Angelo Binaghi, president of the Italian Tennis Federation, confirmed Djokovic’s attendance on Rai Gr Parlamento radio, stating, “We have confirmation that Djokovic will be in Turin,” effectively dismissing rumors of a repeat of his 2023 withdrawal. Currently ranked fourth in the annual ATP rankings, Djokovic has enjoyed a strong season, reaching the semi-finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments and the final of the Miami Open. He also achieved a milestone in May, securing his 100th ATP title in Geneva – a feat accomplished by only two other players in the Open era.

With Djokovic’s spot secured, the final qualifying position for the ATP Finals will be determined between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti, separated by just 160 points in the rankings. The ATP Finals, bringing together the season’s eight best players, is a significant event in the world of men’s tennis, offering substantial ranking points and a lucrative prize pool; more information can be found on the official ATP Tour website.

Officials stated that the competition for the final spot is expected to be intense as both players vie for the last remaining qualification place.
