‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Reshoots Expected as Cast Wraps Filming

Extensive reshoots are anticipated for the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday, even as several actors have completed their work on the project, signaling a crucial phase in post-production for the highly anticipated sequel.

Lewis Pullman, who will portray The Sentry in the film, stated yesterday he believes he has finished filming his scenes. “As far as I know. Unless I get another call,” Pullman shared in an interview with On the Red Carpet. “Who knows how it all goes? I’m just along for the ride. I’m by the phone, ready for the call.” This follows a pattern established with previous large-scale Marvel productions like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which also underwent significant reshoots.

The potential for manipulation of The Sentry’s powers, particularly by Doctor Doom, is a key plot point being discussed. Pullman previously teased that the Thunderbolts are wary of The Sentry, stating, “The Thunderbolts don’t want to let him out of their sight, because they realize that if he’s caught in the wrong hands… he might be dangerous.” The character’s internal struggle with unleashing The Void adds another layer of complexity to his role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Doomsday boasts a massive cast including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, and Robert Downey Jr., alongside newcomers like Florence Pugh and Channing Tatum. The film, directed by the Russo Brothers, is currently slated for release on December 18, 2026, and will set the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. The scale of this production is unprecedented, requiring careful coordination and potentially extensive revisions to ensure a cohesive narrative, as detailed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel Studios officials have not yet commented on the scope of the planned reshoots, but confirmed that further work is scheduled to refine the film before its release.
