Square Enix and Artdink Corporation today revealed significant additions to Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, including new scenarios, encounters, and dungeons designed to expand the classic RPG experience.
The remake will feature expanded storylines connecting to the broader Erdrick Trilogy, with players in Dragon Quest I tasked with summoning the powerful spirit Rubiss, who also appears in Dragon Quest III. Players will seek the aid of the Dream-Whisperer, leader of the faeries, voiced by Yuriri Naka in English and Ayumi Tsunematsu in Japanese, to learn how to bring Rubiss back to Alefgard. Rubiss herself is voiced by Kelly Hotten in English and Natsuki Kimura in Japanese, and is described as “the great spirit said to have created Alefgard.” These additions aim to enrich the narrative for both longtime fans and newcomers.
Beyond the central quest, the remake introduces new characters and events, such as encounters with Tantegel’s soldiers and a mage studying keys, adding depth to the world of Alefgard.
