Dubai Charity has launched a series of humanitarian and community initiatives to commemorate Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan.
The initiatives aim to carry on the legacy of giving instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the hearts of the UAE’s citizens, and align with the objectives of the “Year of the Family.”
As part of the “Be Well” initiative, the charity is organizing a campaign to distribute approximately 40,000 “suhoor” meals – those eaten before dawn during Ramadan – and 4,500 “iftar” meals – those eaten to break the quick. The effort seeks to foster a spirit of solidarity by reaching beneficiaries in various locations, reinforcing Sheikh Zayed’s commitment to providing food and promoting compassion within the community.
Dubai Charity also announced two charitable projects in observance of the occasion: providing assistance to debtors to alleviate their burdens and reunite families, and covering the medical expenses of kidney dialysis patients.
Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the charity’s executive director, stated that “Zayed Humanitarian Day” is an annual opportunity to celebrate the life of “Zayed the Benevolent” and reaffirm a commitment to his principles, which have established the UAE as a global hub of generosity and humanitarian aid.
“As we celebrate the ‘Year of the Family,’ we find in Zayed’s legacy the deep roots of societal stability,” Al Suwaidi said. “He saw the family as the first building block of human values, and his focus on housing, education, and healthcare projects was simply an effort to empower families and provide a dignified environment for their growth.”
