A strategic memorandum of understanding between dubai Customs and the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace hub aims to streamline operations and support the growth of the aviation sector, while a separate agreement will see the growth of a new advanced aviation facility in Dubai South thru a collaboration between the hub and the Al Futtaim Group. These initiatives reflect the emirate’s commitment to enhancing its business environment and logistics capabilities.

Dubai Customs and the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub in Dubai South have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to enhance institutional cooperation and joint coordination. The agreement aims to solidify Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation hub and support the emirate’s efforts to develop its business environment and logistics services.

The memorandum focuses on streamlining service delivery, boosting the operational capabilities of companies in the aviation sector, and regulating the storage and handling of aircraft spare parts. It also seeks to facilitate customs procedures for the aviation industry within the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, accelerating import, export, and temporary entry processes for parts and equipment. Integration of smart systems and a unified window for aviation sector services are also key components of the agreement.

Dubai Customs announced the signing took place on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025, with Abdullah Busnad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and Khalifa Al Zaffin, CEO of Dubai South, signing the document.

Busnad stated the signing is in response to the wise leadership’s directives to enhance the business environment and support Dubai’s leading position in trade, aviation, and advanced logistics. He added that this strategic collaboration will contribute to developing an integrated system to facilitate customs procedures for the aviation sector, simplify clearance mechanisms, and exchange information, ensuring support for companies operating within the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub.

Al Zaffin noted that cooperation with Dubai Customs will enhance the efficiency of services provided to airlines and related industries. He described the partnership as a strategic step to support aircraft manufacturing and maintenance operations, and improve the management of spare parts and equipment storage and handling, ensuring compliance with Dubai’s approved customs and security standards. The memorandum also establishes a clear mechanism for facilitating the movement of shipments and aviation equipment.
