Flydubai Orders 75 Boeing 737 MAX Planes for $13 Billion

Dubai-based carrier flydubai has solidified its partnership wiht boeing,finalizing a $13 billion order for 75 737 MAX aircraft at the Dubai Airshow 2025. This notable investment underscores flydubai’s continued growth and its crucial role in supporting Dubai’s enterprising aviation expansion, particularly concerning the development of Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport. The agreement, flydubai’s fifth with Boeing, highlights the ongoing demand for air travel and the importance of fleet modernization for regional carriers.

Dubai-based carrier flydubai has finalized an agreement with Boeing to purchase 75 737 MAX aircraft in a deal valued at $13 billion (47.75 billion AED). The order, announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025, underscores flydubai’s commitment to expanding its fleet and supporting Dubai’s ambitious growth plans for the aviation sector.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, with flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith also in attendance. This significant investment allows flydubai to leverage the flexibility of the 737 MAX family, utilizing the unique size and range capabilities of the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-10 models.

“We are pleased to announce a new aircraft order with Boeing,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. “Looking ahead, proactive fleet planning is essential to ensure we can meet the growing demand for travel, a demand we are confident will continue to increase. Anticipating future needs is a critical factor in the success of any airline, and today’s announcement reflects our commitment to this principle.”

Sheikh Ahmed added that Dubai’s world-class infrastructure, advanced regulations, open skies policies, and ability to attract global talent are key enablers for flydubai’s expansion. “We are proud to sign another order for 737 MAX aircraft with Boeing, a trusted partner that has played a key role in expanding our network to its current size.”

“The availability of reliable aircraft and a consistent delivery schedule are vital for the continued growth of our sector,” Sheikh Ahmed explained. “This agreement ensures we remain well-positioned for future growth by adding more aircraft to our fleet and replacing existing ones.”

He also expressed gratitude to the flydubai team for their dedication and hard work, noting that their efforts, combined with Dubai’s ambitious vision for the coming years, fuel optimism for the future, including a key role in the expansion plans for Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, stated, “flydubai has been one of the first operators of the 737 MAX globally, and their plan to sign this order, their fifth to date, reflects the leading value and versatility of the 737 MAX in the market.” She added, “We are proud that Boeing airplanes will continue to be a cornerstone of flydubai’s strategic fleet and growth plans.”

flydubai currently operates a modern and efficient fleet of 96 Boeing 737 aircraft, including 27 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s, 66 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and three Boeing 737 MAX 9s. The airline’s fleet expansion is expected to further solidify its position as a key player in the regional aviation market.
