Dubai – A suspected Iranian drone struck the U.S. Consulate in Dubai late Tuesday, amid escalating tensions between the U.S., Israel and Iran.
Videos geolocated and verified by CNN show a thick, black plume of smoke rising from the consulate building, a visible sign of damage. The incident comes as the region experiences heightened volatility following recent exchanges between Iran and its adversaries. The Dubai Media Office stated on X that the fire, caused by a “drone-related incident,” had been extinguished and no injuries were reported. An official confirmation from Washington regarding the alleged drone attack on the consulate is still pending.
Prior to the strike on the consulate, explosions and aerial activity were reported throughout the city, some linked to Iranian missiles and drones. These events appear to be part of a broader wave of attacks across the United Arab Emirates.
Luxury Metropolis in Crisis Mode
Dubai has experienced increasing unrest in recent days as it has been impacted by retaliatory strikes. Following military actions by the U.S. And Israel within Iran, the city has seen a series of attacks. Residents have reported repeated explosions occurring within hours of each other. Shopping centers temporarily closed, and people sought shelter in their homes.
A fire broke out at a luxury hotel on Palm Jumeirah, reportedly triggered by falling debris from a missile. Four people were injured, but the blaze was brought under control.
Air travel was also severely disrupted. The airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were temporarily affected, with airspace partially closed. Several airlines en route to Dubai were forced to make short-notice U-turns or divert to other airports as the security situation remained unclear.
The attack on the U.S. Consulate underscores the growing risk of regional escalation as tensions between Iran and its rivals continue to rise. The disruption to air travel highlights the immediate impact of the conflict on civilian life and international commerce.
