Egyptian authorities conducted extensive campaigns across the country to enforce a government directive aimed at reducing electricity consumption. These efforts resulted in the issuance of 100 violations to businesses that failed to comply with the mandated shutdown order within the past 24 hours.
Legal measures have been taken against the violators, and they have been referred to the public prosecutor for further investigation, as the government seeks to ensure adherence to its policies and maintain the stability of the energy grid.
Thousands of Cases Resolved in Transportation, Electricity, Taxes, and Construction Sectors
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has continued to intensify its campaigns across vital sectors to address violations and ensure compliance. In the transportation sector, authorities reported handling 1,356 diverse cases within the Cairo Metro and railway stations.
Regarding electricity, police apprehended 3,792 cases of electricity theft and related infractions, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting the power network. The tax and customs administration investigated 479 cases involving tax violations and outstanding debts. Meanwhile, the construction police department addressed 166 cases of illegal construction and unlicensed establishments, enforcing administrative decisions to maintain urban order.
305 Drug Cases and 173 Firearms Seized
Extensive security campaigns led to the seizure of 305 drug cases involving 351 suspects, and the confiscation of substantial quantities of hashish, hydro, heroin, marijuana, ice, ecstasy, shabu, powder, Virginia tobacco, foodoo, and opium. Authorities also recovered 67 ampoules and 2,583 drug tablets.
In addition, authorities seized 173 firearms and 273 white weapons, including automatic rifles, shotguns, pistols, and various ammunition types. Law enforcement officials also executed 73,379 diverse court rulings, apprehended 9 fugitive suspects, and detained 21 individuals involved in thuggery, confiscating 265 violating motorcycles and recovering 10 stolen motorcycles. Drug tests administered to 65 drivers revealed that 15 tested positive for substance use.
One Ton of Flour Seized to Protect Bread Prices
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has continued its efforts to monitor markets and prevent manipulation of bread prices, conducting intensive campaigns targeting both tourist and subsidized bakeries to identify violations.
Over the past 24 hours, authorities apprehended several violators and seized more than one ton of white and coarse flour intended for subsidized bread, aiming to ensure that subsidies reach their intended recipients and prevent the diversion of subsidized goods. The Ministry affirmed that these campaigns will continue to combat commercial fraud and price manipulation.
Over 137,000 Traffic Violations and Impaired Drivers Removed from Roads
Egyptian authorities have maintained intensive traffic campaigns on major roads and intersections, resulting in the registration of 137,725 diverse violations, including speeding, driving without licenses, using mobile phones while driving, and illegal parking.
Of the 1,477 drivers tested, 53 were found to be under the influence of drugs. On the Regional Ring Road, 663 traffic violations were recorded, and 118 drivers were tested, with 6 testing positive for drug use. Authorities also apprehended 10 individuals wanted on 12 outstanding warrants and seized one violating vehicle.
Smuggling of Goods Thwarted and Thousands of Judgments Executed
Egyptian security forces have strengthened control over customs ports, leading to the detection of 7 smuggling cases. Additionally, 3,449 diverse traffic violations and 59 cases related to public security were addressed.
Authorities also executed 263 judicial rulings, as part of ongoing efforts to combat lawlessness and protect the national economy by preventing the misuse of ports for illicit activities.
Traders Dealing in Illegal Currency Exchange Arrested with 11 Million Egyptian Pounds
Joint efforts by the Public Security Sector and security directorates resulted in the arrest of individuals involved in the illegal trade of foreign currency and speculation with exchange rates outside of official banking channels, with transactions totaling approximately 11 million Egyptian pounds.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and legal measures will be taken against those involved to maintain financial market stability and protect the national economy.
Appeal in Pensioners’ Special Allowances Case Postponed
The Administrative Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the appeal submitted by Ahmed El-Araby, head of the Pensioners Association, regarding the implementation of a ruling on special allowances, to March 5th for further arguments and rebuttals.
The appeal seeks to compel administrative bodies to implement the ruling in favor of pensioners, asserting that the ruling is final, binding, and must be enforced without delay to protect the financial rights of those most in need.
Cairo Children Rescued from Street Gangs, 13 Suspects Arrested
The General Administration for the Protection of Minors launched a security operation against gangs exploiting children, arresting 13 suspects – 6 men and 7 women, nine of whom have prior criminal records.
Authorities rescued 20 children who were being forced to beg and sell goods, returning them to their families or placing them in care facilities. The suspects have been referred to the public prosecutor for legal proceedings.
Interior Ministry Disrupts Drug Cartel in Suez, Seizes 3 Tons
Egyptian security forces successfully disrupted a criminal network in Suez, seizing 2 tons of hydro and 1 ton of hashish, valued at 230 million Egyptian pounds, after monitoring their criminal activities.
Authorities also apprehended a suspect in Monufia Governorate accused of laundering 85 million Egyptian pounds from the illegal arms trade. All suspects have been referred to the public prosecutor for investigation.
Police Raid Illegal Textbook Printing Operation in El Marg, Arrest Manager
The General Administration for Intellectual Property Protection raided an unlicensed bookstore in El Marg, Cairo, for printing and selling external textbooks without authorization.
Approximately 1,000 illegally printed books were seized, and the suspect confessed to violating the law for financial gain. The case has been referred to the public prosecutor for further investigation.
Ain Shams Harasser Apprehended After Online Exposure
Cairo security forces investigated a harassment incident involving a woman inside a microbus in Ain Shams, following its circulation on social media.
The suspect was identified and apprehended, admitting to the act. He has been referred to the public prosecutor for legal action.
