University of Maine to Host Major Engineering and Computing Job Fair

The University of Maine will host its annual Engineering and Computing Job Fair on Wednesday, October 22, connecting students and alumni with over 150 companies and organizations seeking talent in the field.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Balance Student Recreation Center in Orono, aims to facilitate connections between prospective employees and firms across Maine, New England, and the nation, offering opportunities for both post-graduation employment and internships. More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend. Students are encouraged to register online and upload their resumes to Career Link prior to the fair, and can utilize the “Symplicity Jobs and Careers” app to filter employers.

Preparation is key for attendees, with advice from the University of Maine’s Career Center including dressing professionally, bringing multiple copies of their resume, and crafting a concise 30-second introduction. Parking will be available at the Collins Center for the Arts and Belgrade lots, with a shuttle service provided to the New Balance Student Recreation Center. This job fair is a crucial step for many students entering a competitive job market, particularly in STEM fields.

Tyler Technologies and CPM Constructors are serving as platinum and gold partners for the event, respectively, with additional support from Haley & Aldrich, Procter & Gamble, and others. Detailed information about participating companies and the event can be found on the Career Center website. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and engineering occupations is projected to grow significantly in the coming decade.

University officials stated that the Career Center staff are available to assist students with resume updates and interview preparation leading up to the event.

ORONO — Students and alumni will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from more than 150 companies and organizations during the University of Maine’s 2025 Engineering and Computing Job Fair, Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the New Balance Student Recreation Center.

The fair, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, is hosted by the Career Center, in conjunction with the Maine College of Engineering and Computing, so students and alumni can learn about engineering and computing firms in Maine, New England and throughout the country; meet company representatives; and find job opportunities for after graduation or on-the-job experience through an internship.

Participants should register online, create a Career Link profile and upload their resume prior to the event. They are also encouraged to download the “Symplicity Jobs and Careers” app available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play, which will allow them to filter participating employers by available positions and preferred majors.

Career Center staff also are available to help with resume updates and to provide tips for successful interviewing. Students who will be driving to the event are asked to park in the Collins Center for the Arts (CCA) and Belgrade lots. A free event shuttle from the CCA to the New Balance Student Recreation Center will be running throughout the day. No parking will be available at the New Balance Student Recreation Center.
