Eugenio Suárez is back in Cincinnati, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Reds. Throughout his Major League Baseball career, Eugenio Suárez has distinguished himself not only as a talented player, but also for his warm personality. He returns to the Cincinnati Reds for the 2026 season with increased maturity and strong leadership qualities, attributes that haven’t gone unnoticed by the organization.
Eugenio as a Role Model
Since reporting to Spring Training, the Venezuelan big leaguer has demonstrated intense focus and a strong work ethic in the early days. At 35 years classic, Suárez has established himself as a role model for many players.
Initially, Eugenio Suárez is expected to play third base for Cincinnati, though he could also be a versatile player for manager Terry Francona, potentially seeing time as a designated hitter or even at first base. Regardless of his position, his presence alone is a significant boost to the team.
One of the first to welcome him back after signing with the Reds was Elly De La Cruz. De La Cruz recognizes that Geno provides crucial protection in the lineup this year, likely batting fourth or fifth.
“It means a lot. He’s a great player and a great hitter. He’s been here a long time. He can definitely help us a lot,” said La Cocoa to the press.
The last time Eugenio Suárez wore a Reds de Cincinnati uniform was in 2021, and much has changed within the organization since then. Many players who didn’t play alongside him previously are now learning from his leadership, especially the younger members of the team.
“He’s going to take pressure off the players and allow them to go out and be themselves. So, obviously, you hear about the person, how great he is in the clubhouse and the teammate that he is,” added infielder Spencer Steer.
