Switzerland’s public broadcaster, SSR, is celebrating a resounding success with the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, hosted in Basel this May. The organization reports a “very positive” outcome, marked by both critical acclaim and impressive financial results. The Eurovision contest remains one of the world’s most-watched non-sporting events, drawing tens of millions of viewers annually.
Thanks to careful financial management and increased revenue from sponsorships and ticket sales, the extraordinary costs associated with hosting Eurovision totaled 15 million Swiss francs – 25% less than the initially budgeted 20 million francs. These costs are in addition to SSR’s regular budget for major events, the organization announced Thursday.
