“Many passengers aim for a little more space and affordable comfort on longer flights,” the carrier stated.

Eurowings will equip its entire Airbus A320neo fleet with premium seating, following successful trials of the upgraded cabin, the airline announced. The move will encompass a total of eight aircraft.

“We are adapting industry standards to new customer expectations,” said Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki.

The airline claims it is changing a cabin standard that has been in place in the aviation industry for decades. The new configuration will feature a two-seat arrangement on each side of the aisle in the first two rows – a layout previously more common on wide-body aircraft used for long-haul routes. Eurowings’ Airbus A320neo aircraft serve medium-haul routes with flight durations of three to six hours.

The new Premium BIZ class seating will initially be available on routes to business centers such as London, as well as leisure destinations like Mallorca and the Canary Islands.

“The success of our market tests over the past few months has clearly shown that many passengers on longer flights want a little more space and affordable comfort,” Kownatzki added.

Eurowings previously tested the seats on two aircraft, beginning on the Berlin – Dubai route. One-way tickets to Dubai in Premium BIZ class start at 400 euros, equivalent to approximately 9,700 Czech Koruna.

The seats are manufactured by Geven and include a leg rest, USB ports, a pillow, blanket and an amenity kit. Premium onboard service, including an aperitif and hot meals served on porcelain, will also be provided.
