Evergrey Releases New Single “Oxygen” Ahead of European Tour
Swedish metal band Evergrey today released their new single, “Oxygen,” a heavy and atmospheric track exploring themes of depression and inner turmoil, just days before embarking on a European tour.
The song features the band’s new drummer, Simen Sandnes, and was produced by Evergrey founder Tom S. Englund alongside Vikram Shankar, with mixing handled by Adam “Nolly” Getgood, known for his work with Periphery and Sleep Token. According to the band, “Oxygen” is their heaviest track to date, blending crushing riffs with soaring melodies. “We’ve bled for this one and can’t wait for you to live in its intensity,” Evergrey stated. “Because this is us like you’ve never heard before.”
Evergrey will kick off a 32-show European tour on November 10th in Turku, Finland, alongside Napalm Records labelmates Katatonia, with support from Klogr. The tour will conclude shortly before Christmas in Stockholm, Sweden. This tour follows the release of their fourteenth studio album, “Theories Of Emptiness”, in June, which received positive reviews for its vivid sonic profile. The departure of longtime drummer Jonas Ekdahl in May, due to a shift in his musical focus towards studio work, prompted the addition of Sandnes.
The artwork for “Oxygen” was created by Mattias Norén of Progart Media. The band plans to bring the intensity of the new single to stages across Europe, offering fans a glimpse into their evolved sound and lyrical depth.
