Tapia first posted an update from the clinic on his Instagram stories on Thursday, writing, “Operation superada. Now we go for recovery.” The news quickly spread among his colleagues and fans, highlighting the close-knit community within Chilean media.
On Friday, Tapia explained the circumstances surrounding his injury. “Well friends, here’s the story: I suffered an accident, a fortuitous fall that meant violently hitting my left knee against an iron structure,” he wrote.
“The result: a complete rupture of the patellar tendon and the need for more or less urgent surgery,” Tapia detailed.
Fortunately, the operation was successful. “According to the doctor, the operation was positive, but I face several weeks of recovery, including many sessions of physiotherapy. I have to follow the instructions to the letter to be able to return to normal as soon as possible,” he said.
In a lighthearted note, Tapia assured followers, “I hurt my leg, not my head, so I’m still alert to go after the bad guys.”
