Siemens Secures 2 Billion Contract to Supply SBB with Up to 200 Double-Decker Trains
Siemens has finalized a major agreement with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) to modernize its commuter fleet, securing a contract valued at 2 billion for the delivery of novel double-decker trains. The deal focuses on the procurement of the “Desiro Dosto” model, a high-capacity rolling stock solution designed specifically for the Swiss rail network.
Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens will supply up to 200 double-decker units. These trains are designated for S-Bahn services, where they are expected to increase passenger capacity and improve the efficiency of regional commuter corridors. Siemens recently presented the new train model, highlighting its technical suitability for the requirements of the Swiss transport landscape.
