Norwegian ski jumper Johann Andre Forfang is struggling to find his form early in the World Cup season. He failed to qualify for Sunday’s large hill competition in Lysgårdsbakken, raising concerns about his performance.
Former teammate and current TV 2 analyst Robert Johansson expressed his disappointment, stating, “It doesn’t look like it’s lifting for Forfang, unfortunately.”
Forfang managed a jump of only 115.5 meters during qualification, requiring several competitors to post even lower scores for him to advance. That didn’t happen, leaving him in 54th place.
The disappointing result clearly affected Forfang, who appeared dejected after the event.
“Right now it’s pretty fresh, so the whole world has collapsed. I just need to get back on my feet as quickly as possible,” he told TV 2.
Forfang recently completed a three-month suspension and paid a fine imposed by the International Ski Federation (FIS) following a cheating scandal at the World Championships in Granåsen.
Saturday’s competition saw Forfang finish last in the final round, placing 30th overall.
“It was very bad. Of course, I’m disappointed,” Forfang said to NTB after Saturday’s event.
The first round of the World Cup competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. local time. Marius Lindvik, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, and Halvor Egner Granerud will compete for Norway, while Isak Andreas Langmo was disqualified during qualification.
