A storyline involving substance abuse is proving to be a particularly challenging, yet crucial, undertaking for an actress on the long-running Dutch soap opera Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (GTST).
Demi Lovato’s family, including Marwan El Amrani (Hassan Slaby) and Zoran de Vries (Jurriaan van Seters), are observing the struggles of a young character in Meerdijk as she battles a drug addiction and appears to be losing control of her life, according to reports.
For Noa Zwan, the actress portraying the character, this narrative represents one of the most intense periods of her career to date. She recently shared a series of photos on Instagram documenting the filming of the emotionally charged scenes. “Heftig om te spelen, maar ook belangrijk om te laten zien,” she wrote, translating to “Intense to play, but also important to show.” The actress acknowledged the emotional toll, stating, “For me as an actress, this is really mega challenging and so educational.”

Zwan expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to work on such a project, noting “how bizarre” it is that she gets to do this work every week. The filming process was not without its difficulties, as she shed many tears during the scenes. “I still really enjoy going to the set, even though I cried through 99% of the scenes during this storyline,” she said.
Zwan emphasized the importance of addressing this topic within the soap opera. “Without joking: I really immersed myself in this story and am so happy that GTST gives me such opportunities.”
Taking on the addiction storyline pushed Zwan outside of her comfort zone. “I waved that goodbye during this storyline,” she joked. However, the storyline didn’t come out of nowhere; Zwan herself pitched the intense narrative to the writers of Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden.
She had long hoped to play a raw and complex character, and that wish has now been fulfilled. More details can be found in the video below.
