Wolves Interim Manager James Collins Reflects on Vitor Pereira’s Sacking

Wolves interim manager James Collins acknowledged the pressures of results-driven football following the sacking of former manager Vitor Pereira yesterday.

Speaking to the media today, November 7, 2025, Collins praised Pereira and his coaching staff, emphasizing their professionalism and support of the club’s youth development. “Vitor and his staff were brilliant with me, they welcomed us to watch training, they welcomed us to be around it, they welcomed us into meetings, they were enthusiastic about the U21s, and get players through,” Collins stated. “I can’t speak highly enough of them; they were brilliant people and good coaches.”

Collins continued, acknowledging the harsh realities of the sport. “Sometimes in football, it is dictated by results and in the end, if you keep losing, you lose your job,” he said. “They understand that, but they did their job diligently, great people, and they treated me with great respect, and I wish them well.” The dismissal of Pereira comes amid a challenging period for Wolves, currently facing pressure to improve their position in the Premier League table.

The club has yet to announce a permanent replacement for Pereira, and Collins will oversee the team’s upcoming match against Chelsea on Saturday evening. Further information on the managerial search can be found at the official Wolves website.

Club officials have stated they are seeking a manager who can quickly stabilize the team and build for long-term success.
