Six people were injured Monday afternoon when a taxi collided with a Lamborghini in Hong Kong’s Jordan district, police confirmed. The taxi driver was initially trapped inside the vehicle and later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The incident occurred around 3:11 p.m. Local time at the intersection of Ferry Street and Saigon Street, according to reports from HK01 and am730. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and successfully extricated the taxi driver.

Four passengers in the taxi, including two women and two boys, sustained injuries. Two of the passengers were identified as tourists from mainland China. The 68-year-old male driver of the Lamborghini also reported chest pain.

All six individuals were transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital while conscious, authorities said. One female passenger suffered a fractured right foot and received more serious attention.

Photos from the scene show the taxi’s front end was severely damaged, resembling wreckage, with debris scattered across the road. The Lamborghini also sustained damage to its rear. The case highlights the potential for serious injury in urban traffic collisions.

Police have arrested the 57-year-old taxi driver for dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm, according to the Standard. Investigators determined the taxi collided with the rear of the Lamborghini after the Lamborghini stopped at a red light on Ferry Street near Saigon Street.

The injured boys were 10 and 12 years old. Many of the injured reported neck and waist pain.

As of 4:26 p.m., Ferry Street in the direction of Sham Shui Po had been fully reopened after being temporarily closed due to the accident, Now News reported.
