A 63-year-classic man was found dead Monday evening in his home in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, and police have arrested his 51-year-old wife in connection with his death. The case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic disputes and long-standing tensions.
Long-Standing Grievances Between the Couple
Police responded to a call at approximately 6:41 p.m. On Monday, February 9, and discovered the man unconscious inside a roughly 300-square-foot home in Tuen Mun’s Jing Tau Village. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene, noting significant head injuries. The victim’s wife and daughter were present when officers arrived, and the wife was taken to a hospital for treatment after reporting feeling unwell.
Investigators determined the couple and their 24-year-old daughter, a student, had lived at the residence for over 20 years. The victim worked as a cleaner, whereas his wife was unemployed. Both suffered from chronic illnesses – heart disease and kidney disease, respectively – and the couple had a history of frequent arguments and financial difficulties.
Daughter Heard a Noise Earlier in the Day
According to police, the incident likely occurred earlier Monday morning. The victim’s daughter reported hearing a noise while she was sleeping, but did not investigate further. She returned home from school around 6 p.m. And found her father lying unresponsive in the bedroom, with visible head wounds and blood. She immediately contacted authorities.
Police believe the victim had been dead for some time, consistent with his daughter’s account. A stainless steel cooking pot, approximately 7.5 inches in diameter, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered from the scene.
