Honor unveiled a series of innovative devices at Mobile World Congress, including a conceptual “Robot Phone” designed to transform the smartphone experience through integrated artificial intelligence. The device aims to evolve the smartphone from a tool into a proactive, AI-powered companion.

The “Robot Phone” features a gimbal system that extends from the device, and incorporates a pair of eyes displayed on the screen that track the user’s gaze. Honor describes this as “AI embodied.” This technology allows the phone to physically interact with and perceive its surroundings in a new way, marking a significant step toward more intuitive and personalized mobile experiences.

The integrated AI can engage in conversation and offer feedback, even assessing the user’s attire. Responses appear as text on the screen, with comments ranging from “elegant” to “professional.” A company representative assured attendees that the AI will refrain from offering negative critiques of clothing choices.

Beyond providing compliments, the gimbal can track subjects in real-time, adjust its angle during video calls, and even synchronize movements with music.

“The robot phone is the first mobile phone capable of seeing, hearing, and physically interacting with the world, since it has an integrated robotic arm,” explained Thomas Bai, Honor’s AI product specialist, to Euronews Next. “Now it can be used as a true companion.”

Bai suggested the device could serve as a guide and travel companion during outdoor activities, describing landscapes to the user. “I reckon that’s magic in the real world,” he stated.

The device also aims to assist content creators with filming, and photography.

It incorporates a 200-megapixel camera, a three-axis gimbal stabilization system, AI-powered object tracking, and an “AI SpinShot” function for creating smooth, cinematic 90 and 180-degree video transitions, all operable with one hand.

Addressing concerns about durability, Bai expressed “confidence” in the phone’s robustness, noting that it utilizes the same materials—steel and titanium alloy—found in the brand’s existing foldable devices.

Honor also showcased the Magic V6, its latest high-complete foldable phone and the first to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Despite housing a 6,660 mAh battery, the Magic V6 measures just 8.75 mm thick when closed, making it one of the slimmest foldables currently available.

The “Robot Phone” remains a concept, with a planned launch later this year, though pricing has not yet been disclosed.

Beyond smartphones, Honor announced its entry into the humanoid robot market.

The company emphasized that its robot is intended for consumer use, rather than industrial applications.

“We envision many functions for a robot. First of all, it can be a companion,” Bai said. “It can converse with you and help with tasks. For example, with some household chores, maybe washing the dishes, something like that. We hope that will be possible in the future.”

Honor outlined three primary scenarios for its robots: assisting in retail environments, conducting workplace inspections, and providing personal companionship.

The company believes its extensive user database and experience with smartphones give it an advantage over traditional robotics firms, enabling the creation of machines that can recognize individuals and adapt to their needs from the first interaction.

Honor’s announcements at MWC 2026 demonstrate the company’s ambition to reposition itself as a broad AI hardware platform, moving beyond its origins as a smartphone manufacturer.

“The humanoid robot is part of our Alpha plan. Yes, we’ve transformed from a smartphone company into a device company for an AI ecosystem,” Bai said. “It’s a new product category and we are very excited to bring it to our customers.”
