‘Tracker’ Season 3 Premiere Explains Departures of Key Characters

The Season 3 premiere of CBS’s Tracker addressed the exits of series regulars Eric Graise and Abby McEnany, offering explanations for their characters’ departures.

The episode opened with Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) and his brother Russ (Jensen Ackles) dealing with the fallout from revelations about their father’s death, and subsequently taking on a new case. During the episode, viewers learned that Bobby (Eric Graise’s character) has left his tech repair job for a position as an encryption specialist at a startup, “bringing home the bacon” according to his cousin Randy, who is now assisting Reenie (Fiona Rene) with hiring a new tech specialist. “He’s killing it,” Randy told Reenie, relaying a message from Bobby.

As for Velma (Abby McEnany’s character), Reenie explained she is currently with her wife, Teddi, who is visiting her mother, following actress Robin Weigert’s exit from the show. Reenie indicated Velma’s return is uncertain, stating, “Honestly, I have no idea. She went to go see Teddy. She’s trying to save her marriage.” The departures of Bobby and Velma, who previously handled the logistical side of Colter’s work, shift more responsibility to Reenie, a change that began unfolding last season. This restructuring of the supporting cast could impact the show’s dynamic as it continues to focus on missing persons cases, a popular genre that draws significant viewership.

The premiere saw Colter and Russ assigned a case involving a missing woman and her daughter, initially believed to be linked to a cryptocurrency scheme, but quickly escalating into a more complex investigation. New episodes of Tracker air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

CBS has not yet commented on whether Graise or McEnany might return in future episodes.
