Vancouver completed a stunning comeback, erasing a two-goal deficit in the third period to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on Sunday. The Canucks scored five unanswered goals in the final frame, fueled by multi-point performances from several key players.

Jakub Hronek factored into two crucial goals during the rally, assisting on Drew O’Connor’s tally at 45:51 to tie the game 4-2 and then setting up Mackenzie MacEachern for a goal that extended Vancouver’s lead. The Canucks’ quick surge saw them score four goals in just over a minute and a half.

Tampa Bay struggled to respond after the onslaught, conceding two more goals to close out the contest. Hronek’s shot from the point was redirected by MacEachern past Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson, making it 5-2.

MacEachern, who hadn’t scored since February 2021 while with St. Louis, broke a lengthy goal drought with his contribution to the comeback.

Vancouver snapped a three-game losing streak without the presence of center David Kämpf, who recently signed with the team. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, suffered just their third loss in the last 11 games.

Elsewhere in the NHL, the Vegas Golden Knights continued to struggle, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Minnesota Wild. Despite the loss, forward Mark Hertl extended his point streak to four games.

Hertl assisted on a goal to tie the game at 1-1 and now has 15 points on the season, comprised of eight goals and seven assists, making him the fourth-highest scoring Czech player in the league.

Teammate Martin Nečas holds the second spot among Czech players with 25 points, ten more than Hertl. Nečas added to his total with an empty-net goal against the New York Islanders, securing a 3-1 victory and Colorado’s sixth consecutive win.

Nečas now has 13 goals on the season, tying him with Leon Draisaitl and Cole Caufield for second-most in the NHL. He trails only Colorado teammate Nathan MacKinnon by a single goal.
