Huawei unveiled its latest intelligent driving system, ADS 5, at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Reveal on April 24, 2026. The system represents a significant advancement in autonomous driving technology, featuring enhanced world model capabilities and integration with Huawei’s broader automotive ecosystem.
According to Huawei executives, the ADS 5 system is designed specifically for autonomous driving applications, incorporating advanced AI capabilities and real-time risk assessment features. The company plans to invest 18 billion yuan in the technology this year to support its development and deployment.
The system incorporates a next-generation world model approach, utilizing multi-agent game theory mechanisms and online reinforcement learning to improve training efficiency and decision-making capabilities. Huawei emphasized that the technology focuses on both internal and external safety aspects through integrated perception systems.
At the Beijing auto show, Huawei’s technology was prominently featured across multiple vehicle platforms, with partnerships spanning eight major state-owned enterprises and six international automotive companies. The company’s presence was described as pervasive throughout the exhibition halls.
Several vehicle manufacturers announced plans to integrate Huawei’s ADS 5 system into their upcoming models, including the Dongfeng Fengshen Eπ007 Plus and the latest generation of the Hongqi H9 sedan. The Hongqi H9, in particular, features the system with capabilities including 120-meter precision obstacle detection for 14-centimeter obstacles.
The technology rollout reflects Huawei’s continued expansion in the automotive technology sector, building on its existing foundation of over 1.7 million vehicles equipped with its intelligent driving systems, which have collectively accumulated more than 10.2 billion kilometers of real-world driving data.
Industry observers noted the extensive presence of Huawei’s technology partners at the Beijing auto show, highlighting the growing influence of the company’s technology ecosystem within the global automotive industry.
